Biotape

31st August 2008.

I was recently surfing the net for non-drug treatments for pain and came along a treatment called Biotape. It sounded a bit strange and I didn’t quite know what to make of it. I did further surfing and found various people with no financial ties reporting quick benefit in pain. The creator of Biotape (an acupuncturist) writes:

The theory has similarities to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). I’m not too concerned if the theory is accurate or not, but if it is effective. He claims a large proportion of people report a major reduction in pain in 0-60 minutes of application. As it is not particularly expensive I ordered some for a friend with chronic fibromyaglia and headpain. Biotape was applied to her back for fibromyalgia pain in this area. She commented "This Biotape is amazing", it gave her a huge reduction in pain very quickly. She also tried the conductive headband on her 24 hour headpain, which has been unresponsive to a very long list of drugs and alternative therapies. She said something to the extent of "I feel so silly as opiates and other drugs haven’t helped, but this headband has reduced the pain around 30%!"

I don’t believe the above response was a simple placebo effect as she had tried so many treatments with no benefit. This is a person a local pain clinic effectively said "Don't come back, we can't do anything more for you." As of writing this I have yet to try it on anyone else although intend to try it out on a group of patients to get a better picture of it's usefulness. I’m sure it doesn’t work for everyone, but as it’s both simple and non-toxic is worth trying. It will work or it won't. I should also mention people should investigate the causes of their pain to find long term solutions, be they allergies, nutrient deficiencies, toxic exposures, stress, etc.

To read more about it read the following article and browse the website:

It can be purchased from www.biotape.net. The site is not set up for orders outside the U.S. (I emailed my order). The site owner wrote to me "... the best option is to put our address in the required boxes and put the address you want it sent to in the special instructions section." Email them if you have any problems with orders. If you try it please let me know your response (I don't want to just hear just the positives).
