Alpha-Stim Cranial Electrical Stimulation (CES)

Cranial Electrical Stimulation (CES) applies a small current, a microcurrent, of electricity to the brain. Published research by Dr. Norman Shealy and others have documented CES markedly increases and normalizes serotonin and endorphin levels in both cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood. (Shealy. 1979, 1989, 1998) Both endorphins and serotonin play a huge role in regulation of mood, pain and many other health issues. It also induces beneficial brain electrical changes. Dr. Shealy’s clinic focused primarily on treating depression and chronic pain and CES was a cornerstone of treatment used in his clinic in over 30’000 patients. After just two weeks of morning use depression is lifted in 50% of people and 60% of people experience symptom reduction. (Shealy. 1989) When combined with photostimulation 85% of people improve within 2-4 weeks. One hour/day is recommended at the highest setting tolerated. The most commonly known and well studies CES device is called the Alpha-Stim SCS. See www.alpha-stim.com for more information.

Large bodies of research have been published studying the effectiveness of CES, mainly in the treatment of the following chronic health issues. Scientific literature reviews have concluded:

Within Australia the Alpha-Stim SCS device can be rented from www.pacificmedistim.com.au for $100 per month rental for two months minimum ($80 if health or pension card holders).

The only contraindication of CES is an implanted cardiac pacemaker or other implanted electronic device.
